Fabiola D. Ortega, D.D.S. – Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Fabiola D. Ortega was born in Managua, Nicaragua and raised in Miami, Florida. Dr. Ortega obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology with a minor in Public Health from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Following graduation, she completed her DDS Degree at Howard University where she received several awards including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Predoctoral Student Award, National Dental Association Award in General Dentistry, Distinction from the Department of Restorative Services and was inducted in the Honors program. She was also a recipient of the “Class of 1962 Ethics Research paper Award”.
Dr. Ortega continued on to complete her Pediatric Specialty training at Howard University, providing treatment for children at Howard University Hospital and Hospital for Sick Children Pediatric Center. She has volunteered at the Special Olympics, “Give Kids a Smile Day”, was committee member of HUCD Clinic Pipe-Line Program sponsored by Robert Wood Johnson and participates in dental missions to Guatemala. During her residency she also worked at Catholic Charities in Maryland and provided dental care to underprivileged Hispanic children. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), American Dental Association(ADA), Florida Dental Association (FDA), American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD) and National Dental Association (NDA).
Dr. Ortega specializes in special needs, behavioral management and cosmetic dentistry in children. She loves the interaction and uses her ability to connect with her young patients to make them comfortable during treatment. As a mother of a young son, Dr. Ortega understands that a child’s earliest dental experiences are paramount.
Dr. Ortega loves to call South Florida home. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, ceramics, traveling and exercising. Her love of children, and providing excellent clinical care to children with special needs, make her a perfect fit for the Main Street family.
