Welcome to Main Street Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics of Glen Burnie, your friendly, affordable dentists

We want your child to develop lifelong good oral hygiene habits, so our Glen Burnie dentists do their best to make your child's visit enjoyable. We've decorated our office in bright colors with toys, video games, and chair-side televisions, and our dental technology is among the best in the area.

Our Dentists

All our staff of specialists have been trained in pediatric dentistry, and we can accommodate children from one year old and older as well as those with special needs. We know how stressful it is for your child to go to the dentist, so we make sure to explain slowly and clearly what will happen before your child's procedure.

We have models that help us demonstrate what we're going to do, and we explain the procedure in simple, friendly language so that your child is comfortable with what we're going to do. We have had excellent results with this method, and it dramatically lowers children's apprehension about visiting the dentist. We want to help your child establish good dental habits that will encourage them to have good dental hygiene throughout their lives. If you have questions about getting your child to brush and floss regularly, we can provide tips that may help. For the best results, we recommend taking your child to the dentist when their first tooth fully erupts or by the time they're one year old.

Our Techniques and Equipment

We maintain some of the most sophisticated dental equipment in the area, including digital radiography, electronic patient files, and televisions in every operatory, so you can be sure that your child will receive the best treatment possible. In addition, we have special equipment that may be needed for special needs children, and we have behavior management techniques that can help with a fractious child. We're also skilled at various sedation methods so we can provide the best care for your child.

Our Pediatric Dental Procedures

We offer the following pediatric dental and orthodontic procedures to our young patients:

  • Regular Checkups: One of our skilled dentists will thoroughly examine your child's teeth and gums to make sure they're not developing cavities or gum disease. If so, then we'll develop a plan to address the issue and prevent its recurrence.
  • Dental Cleaning: Your child should begin having regular dental cleanings no later than their third birthday. Annual cleanings can prevent gum disease and cavities as well as establish lifelong good dental habits in your child.
  • Pediatric Dental X-rays: The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children have x-rays during their dental checkups. This can alert the dentist to the presence of gum disease, decay, dental abnormalities, and other conditions.
  • Periodontics: Children, as well as adults, can develop gum disease, so early diagnosis of inflammation can prevent it from escalating to a more serious condition.
  • Emergency Dentistry: If your child has a knocked-out tooth, a broken tooth, a severe toothache, or any other emergency condition, call our office without delay. Often, we can save a tooth if we treat it quickly.
  • Special Needs: If your child has special needs, we can provide them with excellent dental care. We're fully equipped to accommodate your child's special needs and to develop a personalized treatment plan for them.
  • Pediatric Anesthesia: Our pediatric dentists are trained in various dental anesthesia methods and can determine the best one for your child based in part on their age and needs. If your child needs general anesthesia in a hospital, we'll work closely with your child's pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and oral surgeons to ensure that your child receives the best treatment possible.
  • Braces: If your child needs braces or another type of orthodontic appliance, we can help. Usually, these types of problems are diagnosed during your child's annual checkup, so be sure to maintain your child's checkup schedule. The cost for your child's braces will depend on your child's unique needs, and we'll provide you with a cost estimate before we proceed.
  • Retainers: If your child has worn braces, they'll probably need to wear a retainer. Otherwise, the teeth may revert to their previous position. We'll provide you with an estimate of the cost of your child's custom retainer. We don't recommend over-the-counter retainers because they can slip and fall out and won't be effective.
  • Invisalign for Kids: We don't usually recommend Invisalign for young children because their mouths are still developing. However, many teenagers want Invisalign so that it's not obvious they're wearing braces. If your teen wants Invisalign, we'll examine their teeth and gums to ensure they are good candidates for the system. If not, there are alternatives that are relatively invisible. Ask us about them when you call.

Payment Options

We know that dental procedures are expensive and we don't want you to forego dental treatments for your child. We offer a variety of payment options that will help you afford the dental treatments you need, such as:

  • Insurance: We accept most dental insurance plans, and we'll work to ensure you receive the maximum benefits to which you're entitled.
  • Smile Alliance Club: Smile Alliance Club has several plans available that provide substantial savings on your dental procedures. Smile Alliance Club isn't dental insurance. It's a discount membership plan with an annual fee that covers the entire family, there are no exclusions, and coverage begins immediately upon payment. Ask us about it when you call.
  • Flexible Financing: We offer flexible financing options tailored to your specific needs and finances.
  • Specials: Periodically, we offer specials on routine procedures such as cleaning that can help you save money on needed treatments.
