Your Child’s First Visit to Our Pediatric Dental Office
We look forward to meeting you and showing you how we can make going to the dentist fun! Our waiting room features a toy box and several televisions with children’s programming. Kids can even watch television while they get their teeth cleaned! Feel free to bring your child’s favorite DVD; we would be happy to play it during the visit.
Unlike a general dentist, a pediatric dentist is truly the specialist when it comes to caring for children. After completing dental school, pediatric dentists complete an additional two-to-three years of education and training dedicated to diagnosing and treating infants, children, and teenagers. Our dentists see children from age one to 18. As children grow, their dental needs change. From seeing their baby teeth come in, to celebrating visits by the tooth fairy, to crafting sports mouthguards, to identifying whether braces may be needed, we’re here to help your child every step of the way.
Our friendly and compassionate team knows that it can be stressful for children to go to the dentist for the first time, and will take the time to explain in simple, kid-friendly terms what the dentist is going to do and how it will help keep your child’s teeth healthy. Parents are welcome to come back with their children into the exam room, and small children can sit on their parent’s lap for the exam and teeth cleaning, which helps them feel comfortable.
We’re always happy to schedule siblings for the same appointment time to make it as easy and convenient as possible for your children to receive the dental care they need.
Of course, children love our treasure box! At the end of their visit, they can choose a prize for having a great appointment. They also leave with a new toothbrush and toothpaste to encourage healthy habits at home.

Braces and Invisalign® Treatment
We also have an experienced orthodontist in Homestead. Orthodontists specialize in braces, Invisalign treatment, and other orthodontic care to straighten teeth. Having a straight, beautiful smile does more than just build self-confidence. It also improves your health. Crooked teeth make it easier for food and plaque to get trapped, which leads to an increased likelihood of tooth decay, gum disease, and early tooth loss. Straight teeth are easier to keep clean and lower the risk of those health problems.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children visit an orthodontist around age seven to spot any problems with jaw alignment or teeth alignment. Early orthodontic treatment can help guide the jaw’s growth and ensure new teeth are coming in correctly. It usually takes place between the ages of six and 10 and can lessen the amount of time the child may need braces later.
There are more choices than ever to straighten teeth. Our Homestead orthodontist can discuss which service is the best for you. Here are some of the choices:
Traditional Braces
Traditional braces are the most economical choice and use high-quality, stainless steel brackets, bands, and arch wires to gently move the teeth into proper alignment. Many pre-teens and teens like to customize them by adding colored bands.
Clear Braces
Clear braces use clear brackets or tooth-colored brackets instead of the traditional stainless steel. These are an aesthetic choice, and are very popular.
Invisalign® Aligners
Invisalign treatment uses a series of clear, removable retainers to gently guide the teeth into position. Invisalign is often called “invisible braces” because it’s almost impossible to tell that someone is wearing the aligners. It’s a popular choice for older teenagers and adults, especially people who work in retail or do a lot of public speaking, such as corporate executives and teachers.
To find out whether braces or Invisalign treatment could help you or someone you love, call today to schedule a complimentary orthodontic consultation. You’ll leave your first appointment knowing which orthodontic treatment is right for you, how long treatment will take, and how much it will cost. Our team offers several financing options to help you fit the cost of treatment into your monthly budget.
