Get to Know Dr. Tejada, of Main Street Children’s Dentistry of Clermont
As a board-certified pediatric dentist, Dr. Rodolfo Tejada loves the energy and excitement of working with children. At Main Street Children’s Dentistry of Clermont, he treats his young patients like they’re his own, with plenty of TLC and fun. He understands what parents want, too, because he is a dad to three daughters. Dr. Tejada prioritizes teaching families about preventative dental care, to ward off dental disease and enjoy great oral health for life.
Dr. Tejada earned his dental degree at Universidad Francisco Marroquin before being accepted to the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at the University of Connecticut. After two years in this program, he attended the pediatric dental residency program at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and soon after he became board certified. He adores children, respects the challenges of parenting, and believes that coming to work each day is a privilege and honor.
Comfort for patients and parents
Parents are always welcome to accompany their children anywhere in our office. Dr. Tejada believes that each child is unique, and he has a one-patient-at-a-time philosophy, focusing all of his energy on the child he’s treating.
Parents appreciate our intraoral camera and Nomad digital x-ray because these tools are available chairside, in the treatment room. The ability to conduct a thorough and complete oral exam without moving rooms helps to reduce stress and anxiety. Following exams and checkups, Dr. Tejada talks with parents and children together to explain his findings and any treatment recommendations.
For convenience, Main Street Children’s Dentistry of Clermont employs a board-certified orthodontist. Dr. Tejada collaborates with this on-site orthodontist when children need an orthodontic consultation or treatment.
Prevention is the key to great dental health.
Dr. Tejada also enjoys helping patients and parents understand how to prevent dental disease and prioritize oral healthcare because it has a lifelong impact on overall health, wellness, and self-confidence. He works with parents, coaching them on how to help children brush, floss, and eat a healthy diet. In addition to establishing a great oral homecare routine, children benefit from preventive dental sealants and fluoride treatments that stave off cavities.
Dr. Tejada’s favorite tip to share is: “Always finish with water, after every meal and snack! It’s a marvelous trick that helps deter cavities and gum disease.”
Dental care with compassion.
When treatment is necessary, Dr. Tejada and his team go to great lengths to keep kids comfortable, confident, and happy.
Restorative dentistry for children may involve placing resin fillings, zirconia, or stainless steel crowns to repair cavities, cracks, and chips that threaten a tooth’s health. Dr. Tejada uses safe and durable restorations for all of his patients.
When warranted, Dr. Tejada can perform root canals, simple extractions, or teeth whitening.
He uses a CO2 dental laser to release soft tongue ties and lip ties, conditions that often interfere with breastfeeding. With the laser, Dr. Tejada also performs gum contouring, tooth exposure for orthodontic brackets, and cold sore treatment. Another laser the dentist uses is a PBM (photobiomodulation) laser, which addresses TMJ pain without surgery.
Dr. Tejada thinks laser dentistry is an excellent treatment option for kids because dental lasers can replace the need for using a scalpel and stitches, as well as other invasive measures. Children and parents enjoy reduced treatment and recovery times when Dr. Tejada performs laser procedures.
Dental care for your children that’s comfort-focused.
Children are the first to let us know when something feels uncomfortable! We look our young patients in the eyes and talk directly with them, so they understand that we respect them, their feelings, and their concerns. We listen to what they tell us and respond in ways that convey our genuine compassion. We understand that both kids and parents appreciate comfortable dental care. Dr. Tejada and his team will do for your children exactly what they’d do for their own kids. Comfort will always be a priority.
Dr. Tejada can administer nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, to keep patients relaxed and comfortable during treatments. Nitrous oxide has been used in dentistry for over a century. It’s safe and effective, and the effects subside immediately when administration stops.
Soon, Dr. Tejada will also offer oral sedation and IV sedation to keep our young patients comfortable during more invasive treatments. All of these sedation options can help nervous children feel calm and relaxed during dental procedures.
We’re always here when you need us.
Because accidents happen when we least expect them, Dr. Tejada is happy to offer emergency dental care during normal business hours for new patients, and even after hours for his patients of record. Simply call our office for assistance any time, at (352) 678-6506.
